STIRLING, Ont. – June 21, 2016 – The Go Nuclear Late Model Series storms back in to action on Saturday night when it moves to Brighton Speedway for the first race of the season on Canadian soil and round three of the 2016 tour. The 50-lap, $1500-to-win and $175-to-start race is expected to attract some of the top talent in Crate Late Model racing from the Northeast.
The first Schools Out Shootout at Brighton Speedway presented by Deerhaven Farm and Garden and Campbellford Chrysler will mark the series’ first race in a month. The 50-lap event will make the second longest race of the season for the tour, following the 65-lap Great Crate Race, also at Brighton, on September 24, 2016.
The race pits Brighton Speedway regulars against the outside invaders of the Go Nuclear tour. Entering the race _ leads Brighton points and also sits _ in Go Nuclear points. Weekly racing at Brighton has been ultra-competitive this year seen five different winners in seven races so far this season.
Dale Caswell of West Monroe, NY leads all drivers with two wins at Brighton in series competition. However, one of Caswell’s biggest foes, Charlie Sandercock, is the reigning Brighton Speedway track champion and will be hungry to earn his second career tour win at his home track. Chuck Meyers also has a series win at Brighton when he took home a checkered flag on September 8, 2012.
So far this season, John Waters of Whitesville, NY is the only driver to visit victory lane in series competition when he claimed the Prelude to the Gnome Cup at Utica-Rome Speedway on April 24.
When the series returned to Utica-Rome on May 22 for the 3rd annual Gnome Cup, heat race action was completed and three laps of the 30-lap main event before rain forced officials to postpone the completion until August 14. Following the opening race win, Waters remains the point leader with a five-point advantage over Hornell, NY pilot Bryce Davis.
